serial #36249, 12ga., 30" barrels choked about modified and full with excellent bores, each tube showing a tiny ding or two. The barrels show a nice fading damascus pattern their full-length with some minor oxidation staining and an area of light pitting near the muzzles. The frame retains about 85% original fading case colors with the belly toned primarily to a pewter patina. The F-grade engraved lockplates each show game birds, the left side retaining perhaps 92% original case colors while the right has faded to about 90%. The checkered capped pistol grip American walnut buttstock rates about excellent with only minor handling marks, the splinter style forend is in a similar state of condition. The gun appears to have been professionally shortened and has a reproduction grooved Lefever Arms Company buttplate in place for a 13 1/2" length of pull. Drops are 1 3/8" and a 2 1/2". The gun seems to lock up tight and function well with the top lever being just a whisker to the left of center; the very slightest lateral play can be detected in the barrels, they are tight vertically. A very nice example of an F-grade engraved gun that would be even better with a period Hawkins pad installed. (34290-48) {C&R} (1000/1500) SOLD FOR $1035.00
