55. U.S. Model 1863 Remington Percussion Contract Zouave Rifle
.58 cal. percussion, 33" barrel with a bright excellent bore. Barrel shows about 92% original fading blue, the balance a pleasing deep gray and plum patina. The lockplate and hammer show excellent mottled, somewhat muting case colors. Both lockplate and barrel breech are dated "1863" with barrel showing proper inspectors and firing proofs. Brass hardware is a rich ocher patina. Stock rates about excellent with two crisp cartouches and sharp edges showing virtually all its original varnish with only minor handling marks, there is one minor abrasion at the left side of the heel.
