.54 cal. flint, 33" half octagon half round barrel with a fair bore. A good reconversion to flint, metal surfaces are a pleasing brown and plum patina with minor oxidation, more moderate around the area of the touch hole. The barrel exhibits proper U.S. and eaglehead proofs with top barrel flat marked "CONd G Hay 1r 1st r 4th", although the latter part of this is very difficult to read. The lockplate is "(Eagle)" and "Harpers Ferry" marked and dated 1815, it shows two replaced screws and older original parts from the reconversion; the frizzen shows evidence of having been period-resurfaced. Stock rates very good with cartouche and inspector's markings on left stock flat, and shows an old repair in the form of an iron rivet from the left side of the tang to left side of the trigger guard, this repairs a crack through the stock in this area. The right side as well is cracked up through the rear of the breech showing a few old repaired chips with a chipped away and eroded section to the right of the tang at the breech. The original ramrod is present. There are a few impact marks and older scars on the barrels top surface but overall the gun has a pleasing antique look to it and is an excellent example for the martial collector (3405-2) {ANTIQUE} (2000/3000) SOLD FOR $1265.00
