146. U.S. Model 1861 Percussion Rifle Musket by William Muir & Co.
58 cal., 40" round barrel with a bright excellent bore. This musket is in lovely condition. The lockplate bears proper markings and is dated 1864. The barrel bears proper inspectors marks and is dated 1863. The lockplate and hammer retain 95% strong original color case-hardened finish. The barrel bears a lovely even gray patina with just a few very light patches of light surface oxidation. All markings remain clear and crisp. The walnut stock rates excellent plus with nearly all of its original finish remaining, crisp edges and excellent "HS" cartouche. A wonderful 1861 contract musket.
