serial #49809, 40-82 W.C.F., 26" octagon barrel with a very good bore having spots of light pitting. The metal surfaces on this 1891 manufactured rifle bear a dark grayish brown mix with some scattered specks of lightly cleaned pitting, some small spots of older rust, and traces of added cold blue finish. The plain walnut buttstock and forend rate very good with a few light dings and handling marks. The forend has a darker color due to added oil and the buttstock still retains over 90% original varnish finish. The front sight is a period replaced Rocky Mountain style and the rear is the correct sporting style sight. A few of the screw heads show light slot wear.
