serial #S-8986, 20 ga., 23 1/2" overall length ventilated rib barrel with Cutts compensator and Lyman external chokes. Metal surfaces retain about 97%-98% original blue, the loss due only to minor even fading especially in the area of the tangs. The receiver is overall engraved with the most wonderful quality flowing rococo scroll and banknote filigree, with interspersed game birds and a vignette on each frame flat of hunting dogs on point. The lovely quality scroll and filigree continues onto the barrel for 4" of its length. The capped pistolgrip American walnut buttstock shows lovely feather-crotch grain and special dual-checkered panels. The forend as well shows some very nice grain and has a nice ribbon split checkered pattern. Both buttstock and forend rate excellent showing only light wear and a few handling marks. There is an oval monogram plate along the toe line it appears to be engraved "OHL". The trigger features a finely stippled face and appears to be silverplated and has now gained a very pleasing deep blue-pewter tarnish. The included choke is ".675 special". This gun appears to have been the first of a pair, the following lot is its larger bore mate. Overall an absolutely stunning, superbly engraved model 11 sportsman high-grade shotgun.
