serial #772, 6 bore, 40" round barrel with an excellent bore. This is a very fine quality Jones underlever single barrel market gun featuring a back action lock. Top of barrel is marked "ROBERT MORTIMER & SONS KING WILLIAM ST. LONDON" and the lock is marked "ROBT MORTIMER & SON. Fowler is beautifully proportioned and has very nice relief floral scroll engraving on action, lever and lock. In addition to being a very nice quality it remains in very nice condition with barrel retaining a pleasing mix of original brown finish blending with some patina. Damascus pattern is visible for the entire length but is somewhat thin in areas. The action retains about 75% original color case-hardened finish with most loss coming on left side where metal has turned to a gray brown patina with hints of color. The lock is mostly a medium gray brown patina with visible color in protected areas. The checkered straight grip buttstock and horn tipped forend rate excellent retaining nearly all of their original finish and with very few light handling marks. Checkering remains sharp and forend is somewhat darker than buttstock but both are clearly original. Fowler has a 14" length of pull over smooth steel shotgun buttplate. This big girl weighs in at 14 pounds. A lovely and completely honest market gun with beautiful wood to metal fit and proportions. (3296-1) {C&R} (1000/2000) SOLD FOR $3450.00
