67. British Double Flintlock Fowler

20 bore 31 3/4" part round part octagon barrels which transition to hexadecagon and then have nice turned rings at transition to round. This fowler is of typical lovely English quality and is not maker marked, but does bear British proofs. The locks feature bridled frizzens with roller frizzen springs and gooseneck cocks. The locks feature foliate engraving at their rear sections which have pronounced teats. The condition of this fowler is a very nice with its barrels retaining most of a nice quality rebrowned finish with vivid damascus pattern showing and just a few areas of patchy light pitting present. The locks and barrel tang bear a pleasing smooth gray brown patina. The checkered walnut stock with nice shadowline cheekpiece rates near excellent with over 90% original finish remaining and with just a few scattered light handling marks. The iron triggerguard and smooth shotgun butt plate feature handsome engraving and a very pleasing smooth gray brown patina. Fowler comes with a horn tipped ebony ramrod which is likely period. Fowler features a small silver blade front sight and barrel tang forms a neat scooped rear sight. A handsome British smallbore double flintlock fowler. (3125-20) {ANTIQUE} (2500/3500)
