serial #237866, 30 WCF, 22" round barrel with half magazine and a very good bore. This rifle comes with an extra 32 WS standard 26" barrel assembly which appears original and as though it belongs to this rifle, however the barrel does not letter with the gun. The barrel is from the same vintage and has the slightly later style barrel marking which began right around 1904-1905. The second barrel is also a round barrel with a half magazine and both barrels are stamped "866" in the rear sight dovetail. The rifle and 30 WCF barrel do not bear the Winchester proof however the extra barrel does, it is our opinion that this rifle was returned to the factory to be fitted with this extra barrel shortly after the rifle was completed as this proof began appearing right about the time this gun was built. The condition of this rifle is quite nice with the 30 caliber barrel and magazine retaining 95% original blue finish with just a little scattered light surface oxidation present. The barrel collar shows some light flaking and some scattered surface oxidation and retains perhaps 60% original blue with the balance bearing a brown patina. The 32 caliber barrel and magazine retain 97% bright original blue finish and has a bright excellent bore. The frame retains about 95% original blue finish with most loss coming at front of frame where there are a few patches of scattered light pitting. Fire blue on loading gate is very strong as is case color on hammer and the lever. The plain walnut buttstock and forends rate excellent with 95% of their original finish remaining and with just a few light handling marks. The original checkered hard rubber shotgun buttplate rates excellent with just one small chip at heel. Factory records confirm the configuration of this rifle and show a shipment date of October 24, 1904. A nice, high condition two barrel set, special order Winchester 1894 rifle.
