serial #24931, 22 S,L,Lr, 24" octagon barrel with a near very good bore showing strong rifling with minor frosting it's full-length and a ring halfway down the bore. Metal surfaces on this rare rifle retain about 85%-90% original blue, the loss due primarily to fading to a gray-brown patina with loss on the barrel and magazine tube wear and some minor dings and scarring on the magazine tube retaining bands; the front band pin is slightly misshapen. The nicely checkered, straight grip deluxe walnut buttstock shows lovely crotch grain on left and right and rates about excellent with all its original varnish and showing minor handling and usage marks. The forend is in similar condition and is also nicely wrap-around checkered. The receiver shows nice quality tight flowing scroll with a game scene vignette of a grouse on the right frame flat and a pheasant on the left. The nice scroll continues onto the top of the receiver for half of its length, the balance of which is very finely stipple-matted. The face of the trigger is checkered. This is a fine example of these very rare factory engraved "pump" 22 rifles. (3126-8) {C&R} (1800/2200) SOLD FOR $2472.50
