serial #714213, 45 ACP, 5" barrel with a fine, bright bore which has very minor frosting within the grooves at the breech. This is a beautiful pistol which has all correct parts and markings as well as a matching serial number on the underside of the firing pin plate. The metal retains 98% of the original blue finish with the only mentionable loss being a 1" long spot of mild fading on the top radius of the slide just ahead of the ejection port where it appears a small amount of light freckling was cleaned. The checkered walnut grips are in excellent shape with only minimal flattening of the points and have only very slight marring of the screwheads. A single, commercially marked magazine is included which are sometimes encountered on original pistols in the 710,000-735,000 serial number range. Only 3,635 pistols were manufactured in 1939 for the U.S. Navy making this example a rare and desirable variant, especially with the exceptionally high degree of condition that remains, and would make a spectacular addition to any Colt or U.S. military collection.
