serial #223788, 45 ACP, 5" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This pistol has 95-97% of the original blue remaining with some very light pinprick pitting around the muzzle, probably from long storage in a holster. Some further brown fading can be seen on the left side of the slide around the Colt factory markings and on the frame around the "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". The pistol has all correct parts with the exception of the grooved slide release and has a crisp "GHS" inspector's mark above the magazine release. The double diamond checkered wooden grips are in very good shape with some flattening present on the points, heaviest on the right side panel at the butt. The pistol is housed in a 1917 dated Warren Leather Goods Co. made U.S. holster which has some light scuffs and mild flaking on the flex points. A single, reblued lanyard loop magazine is also included. This pistol was one of 964 shipped on January 21, 1918, to the Ordnance Depot at Greenville Piers, Jersey City, N.J. to equip the American Expeditionary Force in France; and has survived the intervening years remarkably well, rating fine condition overall.
