serial #6745, .50 caliber, 20" round barrel with octagonal breech and a mint bore. This is a lovely example of the early second model Maynard carbine. The barrel retains 95% plus strong original blue finish. The action retains 85% original color case-hardened finish which has just softened slightly over time and remains quite pleasing in appearance. Hammer and trigger retain over 95% of their original blue finish. The plain walnut stock rates excellent plus with virtually all of its original finish remaining with a good legible "JM" cartouche. Some later carbines bear two cartouches with the second being "G.W.S.", this carbine bears the "G.W.S." inspectors initials on left side of barrel at breech. A crispy little Maynard carbine.
