36 Caliber, 26 1/4" octagon barrel with an excellent bore. This is a handsome rifle which has a mellow plum colored patina on the barrel with some spots of very light pinprick pitting near the breech and some mild fading along the exposed edges. The top flat is marked "F.R. GOTH PORTLAND, ME." just behind the vacant rear sight dovetail. The iron hammer and unadorned lock have a matching plum patina and are operated by a single set trigger. The walnut stock has been lightly sanded with an added coat of protective varnish and has light handling marks with pleasant feathering along the buttstock. The nickel forend cap, ramrod tailpipe, finger rest triggerguard, and buttstock have a dull gray patina under brown varnish and the right side wedge escutcheon is loose. A later added patchbox has been added to the right side of the stock opposite the gracefully rounded cheekpiece. A replacement wooden ramrod is present. This is a very good condition rifle by a Maine maker. (2164-5) {ANTIQUE} (1000/2000) SOLD FOR $1265.00
