serial #573317, 30-06, 26" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This all Remington, "8-18" dated rifle has amazingly escaped armory refurbishment prior to World War II and retains about 97% of the original blued finish with some fading along the bolt body, front and rear sight protectors, as well as a small amount of freckling on the bolt handle. All of the ordnance stamps are correct and were done after finish and the walnut stock and handguard have only a few minor marks in the otherwise excellent original oil finish with crisp eaglehead stamps fore and aft of the triggerguard. Aside from the large "R" on the front of the forend, no other stamps appear on the wood (which is correct for an original rifle). A period Model 1907 sling is installed which is intact but starting to flake. All correct and original Model 1917 rifles are very rarely encountered and this example is in wonderful overall condition. (2191-3) {C&R} (1200/1600) SOLD FOR $2415.00
