serial #123085, 30 W.C.F., 26" nickel steel part round part octagon barrel with a good but evenly pitted bore. The barrel and half length magazine tube show a very dark grayish brown mix in color with a few scattered specks of pitting and perhaps 25% thinning original blue finish remaining. The forend cap and receiver on this takedown rifle are mostly a grayish brown mix with similar specks of faint pitting and about 15% original blue finish in protected areas. The hammer and lever are mostly a grayish brown color with traces of mellowed original case colors present. The capped pistol grip walnut buttstock and forend rate about very good being sanded and refinished. There are no signs of the original checkering remaining on either stock. The arched lower tang appears a little proud and may have been bent at one time. The checkered hard rubber buttplate is a modern reproduction. A very small hole has been added to the top tang just ahead yet still touching the rear stock mounting hole. The factory records confirm configuration but mention that the stocks were checkered, we feel this could well be an error in the records. (2011-88) {ANTIQUE} (1000/1400) SOLD FOR $1380.00
