serial #3861, 12 ga., 26" barrels choked WS-1 & WS-2 and 28" barrels choked modified & full. Both sets of barrels have bright excellent bores. This shotgun, which shipped in May of 1937, features a checkered straight grip buttstock and beavertail forearm with single selective trigger and checkered butt. The factory records confirm the configuration of the shotgun and show a repair order #45208 dated April 30, 1942 to "fit interchangeable barrels (R-modified L-full)". While the factory record lists this as a non-automatic safety it currently acts as an automatic safety. This shotgun shows many years of faithful service but remains tight and is completely honest. Both sets of barrels feature Bradley beads with small metal center beads and retain about 95% original blue finish. The action retains about 60% original blue finish with loss being primarily on belly of action where metal is turned to a smooth gray patina. Bottom of the triggerguard is professionally, period engraved with the initials "WEB". The checkered pistol grip buttstock and beavertail forend are of nicely figured walnut and rate very good with about 75% original finish remaining and with light wear to checkering. Shotgun features a 14 1/8" length of pull over original checkered butt with drops of 1 1/2" and 2". Shotgun comes with a period leg of mutton case which rates good plus. A versatile and classic American double which has a lot of life left in it. (2177) {C&R} (4000/6000) SOLD FOR $4887.50
