serial #1487, 16 ga. over 9.3 x 72R, 26 7/8" barrels with bright near excellent bores. This drilling is of very nice quality but is not maker marked; the barrels are marked only "PRIMA / GEWEHRLAUFSTAHL" other than the proofing. The frame and back action locks feature nice relief floral and game scene engraving depicting dog, roebuck, red deer and rabbit. The barrels retain about 60% evenly thinning original blue finish, which is blending with a brown patina and showing some scattered light surface oxidation. The frame and locks retain a pleasing, even and very smooth brown patina with traces of original color casehardened finish in protected areas. The front trigger is a single set and rifle barrel is activated by a conventional top lever. The checkered pistol grip buttstock and forend are of walnut and feature a nice flat cheek piece with horn buttplate and shell carved grip cap. The stocks rate very good with considerable wear to forend checkering and light bruising to buttstock. Bottom of butt is equipped with an engraved hinged four cartridge trap. Drilling remains tight and has a 13 7/8" pull over horn buttplate. A nice old German guild gun. (2139-1) {C&R} (1000/1500) SOLD FOR $2875.00
