serial #62728, 40-65 WCF, 26" octagon barrel full magazine and a very good bore that shows some light pitting. The barrel retains about 50% evenly thinning original blue finish, which is blending with a pleasing brown patina. The magazine is mostly brown and both barrel and magazine show some scattered areas of light surface oxidation. The action retains about 60% original color casehardened finish which has faded to a shiny German silver color and is blending with an even medium gray patina. The checkered pistol grip walnut buttstock and forend are wonderfully figured and rate very good plus with over 90% original finish on buttstock and perhaps 70% on forend. Left side of forend shows a 1" square area of bruising and rifle features the early fancy pistol grip with ebony inlay. Rifle features a beaded blade front sight (missing bead), rear slot is filled with blank and a nice Lyman folding tang peepsight is present and looks like it is been there since day one. This is a completely honest rifle, which retains enough condition that it should not be restored. An affordable, yet very handsome 1891 production deluxe 1886 rifle.
