serial #10848, 10.75 x 76mm, 23 1/2" barrels with bright excellent bores. This rifle features superb quality engraving in full coverage by John Warren whose signature appears on the triggerplate. The engraving consists of lovely relief scroll, which is delicate and masterfully executed. There is a beautiful gold inlaid elk in the center of the floor plate with two of the antler's tines crossing the gold border into the edge of the engraving, an affect that adds tremendous depth the scene. The bow of the triggerguard is gold inlaid with the initials "ESF" in a finely stippled panel amongst the fine relief scroll. The barrels feature lovely wedges of relief floral scroll at action, and rear portion of rib from sight to rib extension features lovely scroll with a very finely stippled section at center. The buttplate features a hinged three cartridge trap and is beautifully engraved in relief scroll at top with the balance bearing a wonderful geometric pattern of shaded diamonds, the outer edge of buttplate shows a lovely repetitive geometric pattern. The action is a scalloped boxlock with double under lug fasteners, top third fastener and barrel features locking sideclips each side, which fit flawlessly into milled, reinforced fences. Both triggers are adjustable single sets and rifle features and non-automatic safety. The barrels retain 98% wonderful quality blue finish. The action is finished bright and is even and smooth. The triggerguard, forend metal, top lever and buttplate retain 99% lovely blue finish. The checkered round knob pistol grip buttstock and splinter forend are of beautifully figured walnut and feature nice flat shadowline cheekpiece with graceful teardrops at rear of side panels. Bottom of buttstock has one area that is neatly filled with a nicely inlaid piece of walnut. Rifle is sighted with a beaded blade front and single standing and single folding rear sight. Rifle features original sling swivels and comes with RCBS dies, a box of formed brass, 15 loaded cartridges and some projectiles. This is a very graceful and very strong German double rifle.
