serial #79084, 8mm Mauser(J), 20" barrel with a bright excellent bore. Barreled action retains about 90% plus high-quality satin-finished hot immersion blue. The bottom metal retains about 85% original rust-blued finish which is fading to gray somewhat with some minor handling marks. The bolt shows some later embellishments, it's handle featuring flawless two-panel fine checkering, and the body has been nicely jeweled. The full-length walnut stock rates excellent and appears to be all original finish. It features a lovely rich red-russet hue with the checkering panels still very crisp. The stock is of course classic style with a rounded cheek piece featuring scant tip and mid-forend Schnable's, with a steel pistol grip cap. The original factory sling swivels are present. Likely a factory pattern number 203, the gun features a sporting ramp front sight with three leaf rear (one standing two folding) and is outfitted with quick detachable claw mounts, double set triggers and a lever-release hinged floorplate. The bone buttplate shows some minor insect damage and rates very good plus. The rear ring will accommodate a 1" scope tube, the front ring will accept an objective lens with an outside tube diameter of 40 mm. Overall an absolutely lovely vintage German sporting rifle with all the most desirable features and an absolutely crisp bore. (2152-29) {C&R} (1800/2200) SOLD FOR $1955.00
