serial #16149, 7mm Mauser, 21 1/2" octagon barrel with an integral rib and a bright excellent bore. This absolutely lovely custom rifle is completely unmarked. The rear receiver ring has been custom-made into a square bridge with its top flat matted; the octagon barrel features an integral matted full-length rib which wears a simple bead sporting front sight with slide on hood and a 3 leaf (one standing two folding) rear sight. The gun retains 99% plus excellent quality hot immersion blue. The bottom metal shows light English style scroll engraving with light border accents on the trigger guard and front guard screw tang. The floorplate is a work of art unto itself and features a fabulous depiction of a white tailed deer inlaid in gold, this bordered by gold wire inlays. The vignette is flanked by lovely oakleaf and acorn engraving, also with the same fine gold wire inlay bordering the floorplate. The quality of the engraving and the work is absolutely fabulous yet is unsigned. The gun is stocked in a superb grade of fiddle back American walnut in the classic style with a rounded cheek piece. Stock is accented by an ebony forend tip and checkered steel Niedner pistol grip cap with crescent style Niedner buttplate. A borderless wraparound checkering pattern graces the forearm with an equally lovely borderless pistol grip pattern which meets at the rear of the tang. The gun is equipped with dual set triggers and a turned down sporting style bolt handle. The gun rates excellent overall with perhaps a very small handful of very very minor dings and handling marks on the stock and one minor abrasion to the rear guard screw which could easily be dressed. The underside of the barrel is dated 1984, it is unusual that workmanship this fine should be unsigned. (2152-24) (3000/5000) SOLD FOR $3162.50
