serial #2779, 270 Win, 23" barrel with a bright excellent bore. Metal surfaces on the barreled action retain about 99% top quality hot immersion blue. The bottom metal has been satin chrome plated. The receiver rings show light foliate engraving, the right side of the front ring reading "Made in England", the left side is marked "Calibre 270 Win". The gun looks very much like a Westley Richards offering, with the barrel being replaced in 1987 (the underside is so dated). The floorplate as well features loose foliate engraving with a scroll riband which also reads "calibre 270 Win", there is minor geometric engraving bordering the guard, the bottom of the guard is marked "2779", there are a few minor scratches on the guard. The gun is stocked in a very nice grade of English walnut, Monte Carlo style with a flared cheek piece which also features a shadowline. The pistol grip cap appears to be hard rubber and there is a nice leather covered 1" recoil pad at the butt. Forend and pistol grip feature nice borderless wrap-around fleur-di-lis pattern checkering. The stock rates near excellent overall showing only a handful of minor dings and usage marks. The bolt body is fully blued, the bolt handle features lovely five-panel checkering. The magnum crossbolt is engraved as well. Trigger is adjustable with a side safety. The gun includes EAW steel scope bases and 30 mm rings. This is really a lovely and exceedingly well done bolt action sporting rifle which really appears to be Westley Richards, although lacking the original barrel we cannot say with certainty.
