serial #15731, 16 ga. over 8mm Mauser R, 26" barrels choked a light and tight full with bright excellent bores, the rifle barrel rates very good with strong rifling but also showing some very minor frosting in the grooves. Barrels retain about 95% slightly fading blue finish. Barrels are Krupp Laufsteel and are "Sempert and Kreighoff" marked. The rib features bases for detachable scope rings and an automatic flip up rear sight; the breech ends and greener extension are lightly engraved. The frame and side locks are a lovely pewter-patina. The frame shows lovely arabesque foliate scroll with the sideplates showing Roe deer and stag wildlife scenes. The background is finely stippled. The fences are lightly chiseled and feature sideclips, a manual safety is on the left lock plate with the rifle barrel selector being under-lever style also on the left side. The lockplates feature cocking indicators, the triggers are goldplated with the rifle trigger being single-set. The guard is horn and is missing a tiny chip on its right edge, it could easily be narrowed and polished and would disappear. The frame features a quick detachable trigger mechanism. The stock is a lovely grade of English walnut and features a rounded shadowline cheekpiece. The pistol grip has checkered panels while the splinter style forend has a wraparound checkering pattern and a bone tip inlay. At some point the butt was shortened 3/8" but the original piece has been re-attached for a 14 3/4" length of pull to the original horn buttplate. Lockup is tight. This is an absolutely lovely 1933 proofed top-of-the-line Kreighoff drilling. (2152-14) {C&R} (5000/7000) SOLD FOR $8050.00
