serial #1854, 30-06, 24" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This rifle is built on a Mauser action and features beautifully engine turned bolt, extractor and follower along with a nicely reshaped bolt handle with checkered knob and custom safety lever. The top ring of action has been finely stippled with simple engraved border and top of barrel is marked "NO. 1854 GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK". Metal surfaces of rifle retain 95% original blue finish. The checkered walnut pistol grip stock features the typical horn forend cap, steel grip cap and lovely shadowline cheekpiece. The stock rates excellent with over 90% original finish remaining and with strong, sharp checkering. Bottom of butt has a silver oval escutcheon which is nicely engraved "R.J.T." and the buttstock is fitted with a Pachmayr pad. The steel grip cap has turned to a plum color. Rifle features banded sporting ramp front sight and Lyman receiver sight in addition to a Lyman All-American 4X scope on Griffin & Howe side mount. Rifle comes with a leather Boyt sling with quick detachable swivels and includes a nice modern uncle Mike's padded zipper case. Overall a quite nice Griffin & Howe sporting rifle.
