serial #69669, 9mm, 4" barrel with a good bore having light pitting within the grooves. This is one of about 450-500 Commercial Model pistols accepted into Imperial service in 1908 and has an undated chamber with the distinctive "(crown)/X (crown)/X (crown)/X (imperial eagle)" proof marking on the right side of the barrel extension. The trigger, barrel, sideplate, toggle segments and bolt have matching numbers, while the grips and magazine base are numbered to different pistols. The metal has 90-95% of the original blue remaining with some traces of very mild freckling along some of the exposed edges as well as some mild gray fading, most noticeably at the muzzle. The takedown lever, trigger, safety, and ejector retain some of the original straw coloring with some mild freckling on the balance. The checkered wooden grips have some moderate flattening to the points along the front of the panels as well as a few very small handling marks scattered about. The single magazine has a small metal fill-in at the rear of the wooden base where it is missing a tiny chip. These Commercial/Military Lugers are rare pistols, the first true “Pistole 08” to be used by the German army and this example rates very good-fine condition overall.
