The loading information is beautifully engraved on the underside of triggerguard which is hidden when rifle is in the closed position. The loading data reads as follows: "ELEY BOXER / 450 EXPRESS / 4 DRS. POWDER BULLET 270 GRS.". The barrels retain 95% excellent quality black finish. The action and locks are mostly a smooth gray color, the result of faded case hardening blending with patina. The checkered pistol grip buttstock and splinter forend retain 95% nice quality professional restored finish with strong checkering. The forend tip, pistol grip cap and buttplate are of horn and all rate very good plus with a little light chipping or moth damage to grip cap. The forend wedge escutcheons are also engraved and the left side is recessed so wedge head fits flush, a lovely touch and an excellent example of the quality and detail of this rifle. This would make a fabulous deer rifle shooting the light 270 grain bullet it's regulated for. (1915-58) {ANTIQUE} [Ray Day Collection] (7000/9000) SOLD FOR $9487.50
