serial #6248, 458 Win Mag, 24" barrel with an excellent bore. Metal surfaces retain about 98%-99% top quality hot immersion blue finish. The bottom metal features very nice quality scroll engraving with a depiction of a leopard. The steel pistol grip cap and chamber area of the barrel shows similar nice quality engraving. The receiver ring is engraved ".458/Winchester/Magnum" the barrel is maker marked "J. Rigby & Co. 13 Pall Mall London S.W. 1" the tops of scope rings are also maker marked and serial numbered. The gun is stocked in a nice grade of English walnut, which has been stained to a deep red-russet hue. The stock is Monte Carlo style with a flared cheekpiece, casehardened steel trap door grip cap and is equipped with swivels. The forend features a wraparound checkering pattern with dual checkered panels at the grip. The stock rates excellent showing an old professional refinish, there is an oval German silver monogram plate along the toeline and the gun wears a solid red London guns pad. Other nice amenities include a three panel checkered bolt knob, low swept safety, lightly stippled trigger face and magnum crossbolt. Sights include a sporting ramp front with Lyman ivory bead, single standing and two folding leaf express rear sights and a maker installed quick detachable scope base on the receiver's left side. The one-inch rings hold a B.Nickel 2.5 X 20 scope with heavy European reticle and excellent optics. The gun comes cased in a nice canvas rifle case with leather corners, and makers label on the inside. The interior appears to be re-lined, however the right end label is serial numbered to this gun. Case accessories include nickel plated oil bottle, Rigby and company oil and grease tins, chamber funnel for flushing barrel with boiling water (if cordite powder is used), ebony handle turn screw, cleaning rod and brush accessories. Really a lovely sporting rifle in a fabulous African caliber; factory regulated for 500 grain solid and 510 grain soft nose projectiles. (1991-5) (8000/10,000)
