serial #39278, 404 Jeffrey, 26" barrel with an excellent bright bore. The metal surfaces on this vintage magazine rifle retain a somewhat fading 90% original blue finish, with some very minor, very light, sparsely scattered pitting, minor usage marks and one area of moderate pitting 1" ahead of the forend tip. Likely made by Jeffrey for retailer Walter Locke & Co. in India. The English walnut, classic style stock rates very good plus to excellent with only minor dings and dents from honest use afield. The gun features horn grip cap, forend tip and grooved buttplate. There are checkered panels on the pistol grip and forend. Gun is equipped with maker installed sling swivels. The front sight is a gold bead on a sporting ramp, rear is three leaf--one standing, two folding, for 100-400 yards. There is a very small repair at the toe and a very minor crack in the bone forend tip. A lovely as-used gun which doubtless saw time on the Indian or African continents. Ammunition is once again available for these fine rifles, suitable for any bear or cat walking the planet, and judiciously used, proper for any African game. (2027-89) {C&R} [Stan Terhune Collection] (3000/5000) SOLD FOR $2875.00
