serial #813, 40-72 WCF, 26" octagon barrel with a bright, excellent bore. This is an extremely handsome, early and rare 1895 rifle. Special order features include fancy checkered pistol grip stock, octagon barrel and special factory installed sights. In addition to those special order features it happens to be in a scarce and desirable chambering. The rifle is completely honest and remains in wonderful condition. The barrel retains about 95% evenly thinning original blue finish. The action retains about 95% original blue finish as well with the right side of box magazine showing two areas of silvering from friction with lever. The checkered pistol grip buttstock and schnabel tipped forend rate excellent with about 90% of their original "extra" finish remaining and strong checkering that shows just the lightest of wear. The buttplate retains a pleasing mix of faded original case color and patina. Rifle is equipped with Lyman hunting front sight, blank in rear slot and factory installed Lyman 21 receiver sight. The pistol grip is an extremely rare feature on the model 1895 as the only “true” pistol grip guns could be built on the early flatside frames with the solid, one piece levers. Factory records indicate the following: received in warehouse November 7, 1896, rifle, 40-82, octagon barrel, plain trigger, checkered stock with pistol grip, Lyman receiver sight & Lyman hunting front and the rifle shipped on November 9, 1896.
