serial #10968, 45-60, 28" octagon barrel with full magazine and a very good bore. This original pistol grip deluxe rifle has been wonderfully restored and custom engraved as a One of One Thousand rifle. The action features nice quality relief floral scroll engraving on panels ahead of sideplates as well as top of action, dust cover, belly of action, bottom of lever and areas around side plates. The barrel features nice wedges of engraving at breech with top flat engraved "One of One Thousand" in the proper style. The barrel, magazine and dust cover all retain 99% beautifully restored blue finish. The action, lever, hammer and buttplate all retain 99% lovely restored case colored finish. The checkered pistol grip walnut buttstock and forend rate excellent plus as beautifully restored. The lower left tang of action is marked "XXX 1048", matching "1048" number can be found in the top tang inlet of stock as well as on the bottom inside of buttplate. Factory records indicate as follows: received October 8, 1880, rifle, 45/60, octagon barrel, plain trigger, pistol grip, checkered, sporting rear sight, case hardened, forearm light and the rifle shipped the same day.
