serial #3276, 32 RF, 5" ribbed octagon barrel with an about very good bore showing minor pitting sparsely scattered but strong rifling. The metal surfaces on this nice old army retain about 90% original blue finish, the bulk of the loss being on the cylinder, high edges and contact points. There is some minor flaking and sparse oxidation present however the gun has a very pleasing appearance overall. The cartridge ejector spud has faded to a casehardened gray. The smooth rosewood grips rate very good plus near excellent with minor dings and lots of original varnish. They are numbered to the gun. Trigger and hammer have faded to a muted gray casehardened color as has the top latch. Assembly numbers match. There is some minor damage around the sideplate screw hole, the hinge screw slot is slightly damaged as well. Overall this early four digit Smith is in lovely condition for its age and certainly could have seen Civil War use. Times and locks up very well. (2012-4) {ANTIQUE} (1800/2200) SOLD FOR $2070.00
