serial #5781, 44S caliber, 34 1/2" part round part octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel retains about 40% evenly thinning original blue finish which is blending nicely with a smooth brown patina. The action retains 85% original case color which has softened over time but remains quite visible. Trigger, hammer and breechblock retain most of their original blue finish. The checkered pistol grip walnut buttstock and forend rate excellent and look to have been very nicely and lightly refinished long ago. Rifle is equipped with a windgauge front sight with spirit level and original long-range vernier tang peep sight. The buttstock is equipped with an original heel position base. Rifle is accompanied by Mr. Day's pocket notebook with loading data, brass cases, reloading dies as well as targets shot with the rifle. Mr. Day purchased rifle from John Gangel. A very fine example of this scarce Remington target rifle. (1915-32) {ANTIQUE} [Ray Day Collection] (6000/8000)
