serial #146, .30 Cal. centerfire (appears to be .308 Win Match), 30" stainless target barrel with an excellent bore. This rifle represents another step in the progression from ultra-heavy barreled unlimited class guns with mechanical front and rear rests, to the heavy-duty clamped-steel block rail guns we are familiar with today. Gun still features a wooden stock, made of curly maple, but with a heavy steel block inletted into the stock proper, which leaves the barreled action completely independent of the wood portion of the stock. Mr. Weber's action retains 98% original blue, the heavy barrel clamp and scope rail retain a similar amount of blue. The curly maple stock rates about excellent showing one minor repaired chip and a couple other minor dings; there are very minor cracks starting at the front and rear of the heavy barrel block. The gun is equipped with a Canjar single set trigger. The underside of the generous, square forend is equipped with two inletted pieces of steel round-stock, the butt has a rather large steel plate affixed to it; a Delrin V-block is screwed to it. There is no trigger guard nor provision for one. The gun currently wears a Redfield 24X target scope with adjustable objective, fine crosshair reticle and excellent optics. (See spare Weber barreled action in silent auction which will also fit this "slave stock"). As with any rifle of unknown caliber, a competent gunsmith determination of caliber and headspace check is mandatory before using this rifle. Overall weight is 42 pounds (extra shipping).
