serial # 318193, 45 Long Colt, 7 1/2", barrel with an excellent bore. Metal surfaces retain about 99% lovely original blue finish, the gun features about 60% scroll engraving, the sideplate is also factory inscribed "J. Mc.C.". The grips are a very nice pair of mother of pearl with inlaid silver Rampant Colt medallions; they are numbered to the gun in ink pen. They fit precisely, the left grip is smooth the right grip features a carved steers head depiction (factory letter indicates checkered Walnut). The gun shipped to R.S. Elliott Arms Co. in Kansas City, MO in January of 1924. It was ordered by Mr. John McConnell. The butt is equipped with a lanyard loop, and the gun has been retrofitted with King's adjustable sights (likely by King's), the front shows a brass Patridge style Kings reflector sight, the rear is a square notch black blade. Gun times well and locks up tight. Really a lovely large New Service overall, with very scarce factory engraving and inscription. Initial research turns up a few John McConnell's in Kansas in the 20's, further research may prove to be fruitful. (2036-4) {C&R} (5000/7000) SOLD FOR $5750.00
