Marlin Ballard-Pope Rifle on Rigby 6 1/2 Action

serial #9167, .32-40, 30" part round part octagon barrel is marked "H. M. POPE" with a very good bright bore. Underside of barrel bears Pope's number "395", the original false muzzle bears the same number and a correct brass piston bullet starter is unnumbered. This rifle features original double set adjustable triggers and full loop lever which is fitted with a Schoyen nickel plated finger grip. The action of this rifle bears lovely factory scroll engraving with running deer in panel left side and running bison in panel right side. The barrel retains 70% evenly thinning original blue finish and has scope blocks, windgauge front sight with spirit level and no other additional holes. The action is fitted with a midrange vernier tang peep sight and retains a pleasing mix of faded original case color and a smooth gray patina. The buttstock is an original pistol grip Marlin Ballard stock without cheekpiece and with small Swiss buttplate. The forend is a nice period checkered beavertail style forend exhibiting nice figure. Both stocks rate near excellent. The rifle is equipped with a Winchester 5A telescopic sight on adjustable mounts. A handsome Pope-Ballard muzzleloading target rifle.
