serial #1701, .30-30, 28" part round part octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is a very handsome rifle. The barrel is very finely made of light to medium weight with an integral matted rail along top flat of octagon section. Mr. Day's notes indicate that this barrel was made by August Pachmayr for Ed Pybolt. The barrel is fitted with scope blocks and retains 95% original blue finish overall and is equipped with a windgauge front sight with spirit level. The action retains about 80% original case colored finish which has faded somewhat but remains pleasing in appearance. The checkered pistol grip buttstock has a handsome shadowline cheekpiece and original nickel plated Swiss buttplate. The forend has uncapped schnabel tip and is otherwise the proper style. Both stocks rate about excellent with about 90% original finish remaining. Fire blue on hammer and trigger remains quite visible and rifle is equipped with a midrange vernier tang peep sight. Rifle comes with a metal shooters kit which contains a bullet lubricating tool, re-de-capper, breech seating tools and reloading dies. Some of these tools are .30-40 Krag tools however the riifle will not chamber a 30-40 Krag cartridge. A handsome and interesting Hepburn rifle. (1915-11) {C&R} [Ray Day Collection] (4000/6000) SOLD FOR $3450.00
