US Model 1859 Sharps Rifle Bayonet by Collins & Co

This bayonet measures 24 3/4" overall with a 20" slightly curved blade with unstopped fullers. The reverse ricasso is marked "COLLINS&CO/ HARTFORD CT/1861". Blade is an evenly mixed plum gray patina with well hidden scattered pinprick pitting present. The all brass hilt features a 16 groove grip, straight guard with round finial, bird's head pommel, fully intact and functioning press stud and is stamped "39854" on the upper grip flat. Brass shows minor scratches. A very good Sharps bayonet overall. (1958-122) (800/1000)
