22 rimfire, 30" part round part octagon barrel with an offset chamber and a bright excellent bore. The barrel is marked "Stevens-Pope/ Manufactured by J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. Chicopee Falls, Mass. U.S.A." and is numbered "1726" on the under side. The birdseye maple forend of this rifle is nearly identical to the forend on Rowland’s Pope-Ballard rifle (Item #30 in this catalog) and this barrel may well go to that rifle. This barrel retains 99% non-original quality matte blue finish with signs of two filled holes. The globe style front sight, scope mounting blocks, and Winchester A5 scope retain about 90% original blue finish. This barrel is also equipped with a checkered custom Birdseye maple forend which is equipped with an ebony semi-schnabel tip and a brass palm rest base. This forend rates excellent except for a small crack on the upper left side. (1915-15A) [Ray Day Collection] SOLD FOR $2875.00
