serial #29410, 32-40 Win, 30" part octagon part round barrel with an about excellent bore showing only a couple very minor pits near the throat. The metal surfaces are an overall deep gray and pewter patina, and are mostly smooth. The frame shows remnants of a Silver casehardening. The Schnabel tipped forend and pistol grip buttstock rate excellent with lots of original varnish, both show neatly checkered panels. The butt is fitted with a medium weight Swiss hook, the left side features a small flared cheekpiece. There is no rear sight seat, the tang wears its original midrange vernier aperture sight. Front sight is a Kings reflector style, the bead is missing. This is really a lovely and honest old Ballard midrange target rifle. (2085-3) {ANTIQUE} (1500/2500) |
