serial #70984, 38-56 W.C.F., 25" period shortened No. 3 weight octagon barrel with a very good bore having even light pitting throughout. The barrel has a pleasing light brownish gray patina with a few scattered specks of surface rust. The receiver on this 1895 manufactured rifle bears a gunmetal gray color with good traces of original color case hardening that has faded to a pewter gray color. The crescent buttplate has been cleaned to a gunmetal gray with a few specks of light pitting. The straight grip walnut buttstock and forend rate very good to near excellent with a few dings and a 1" crack on the left side at the forend tip.
