serial #1047, 38 W.C.F.,24" octagon barrel with a bright bore that rates near excellent except for some small spots of pitting. The barrel and full length magazine tube retain about 35% thinning original blue finish with the majority of the balance bearing a dark brown patina mixed with some added cold blue finish. The receiver on this first year of manufacture rifle retains about 55% thinning original blue finish blending with a pleasing brownish gray patina. The receiver has light horizontal striations which are brown in color. The hammer and lever still retain original case colors in protected areas. A couple of the screws have slightly misshapen heads. The straight grip walnut buttstock and forend rate very good to near excellent with a couple dings and some light handling marks.
