serial #163727, 38 W.C.F., 24" octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel and full length magazine tube retain 35-40% thinning original blue finish with the balance bearing a brownish gray patina. The receiver on this 1898 manufactured rifle retains about 30% thinning original blue finish with the often seen horizontal striations. The balance is a grayish brown patina. The hammer and lever have strong original case colors in protected areas. The professionally refinished semi-fancy walnut buttstock and forend rate excellent except for a 1" crack on the belly of the forend ahead of the receiver. This rifle is equipped with a Lyman No. 5B combination front sight, standard sporting rear sight, and a Lyman No. 1 tang peep sight.
