Stevens-Pope Model 49 Walnut Hill Rifle on 44 1/2 Action

serial #1676, .25-20 SS, 30" full octagon No. 5 weight barrel with an excellent bore. The barrel bears Stevens Pope #1915, the "POPE" in the "STEVENS-POPE" barrel marking has been hand stamped with individual dies and the rifle has six groove right-hand twist rifling. The action of his rifle features nice factory scroll engraving and rifle is equipped with adjustable double set triggers and factory full loop lever. The barrel retains 90-95% original blue finish with no extra holes and no rear seat. The action retains 90% original case color which has softened over time but remains mostly visible. The checkered pistol grip buttstock with cheekpiece has lovely figure and rates excellent. The forend appears to be a period replacement, probably an original Stevens product. Rifle is sighted with a globe front and a Stevens-Pope adjustable tang peep sight. Overall a quite nice Stevens rifle. (1915-8) {C&R} [Ray Day Collection] (4000/6000) SOLD FOR $6900.00
