serial #76056, .50 Express, 30" octagon No. 3 weight barrel with a bright minty bore. This rifle originally shipped in 1891 as a 45-90 in the same barrel configuration and was later factory rebarreled to .50 Express. Both barrel and top of action bear the Winchester proof indicating that this barrel was installed by the factory as the Winchester proof did not exist when this rifle was originally shipped in 1891. The barrel retains about 90% evenly thinning original blue finish. The action is mostly a smooth gray brown patina with generous traces of faded original case color evident. The forend rates very good as does the military style buttstock which is an original Winchester stock which may have been added to this rifle at a later date. German silver blade Rocky Mountain front sight is present along with flat top rear barrel sight and Marbles folding tang peep sight. The bottom of the butt is inletted for a sling swivel which is not present. This will make someone a lovely big bore shooter. (1915-92) {ANTIQUE} [Ray Day Collection] (2500/3500) SOLD FOR $3450.00
