The blade measures 30 11/16" with a strong suguha hamon and notare-komi boshi with chu-kissaki point. The blade is quite lovely and features a faint itame grain on the ji with a cloudy nie border. Some minor kizu are visible in the ji on both sides but they don't cross the temper line and could be polished out by a professional. The nakago has developed a nice, rough brown patina and is of iriyamagata shape with a single mekugiana and a large mei consisting of the single character [ari] (presense/existence). The later added tsuka has a brushed brass habaki, copper seppa, rough iron fuchi and kashira, white same grip and black cloth tape wrap with two-tone metal menuki. The saya is also new and has a black lacquered finish with an iron kashira at the tip which matches the hilt fittings. This is a wonderful old blade in newer mounts which rates fine overall condition. (2027-229) [Stan Terhune Collection] (1000/2000) SOLD FOR $1265.00
