serial #107051, 50-110, 28" round barrel with a bright excellent bore. This rifle with octagonal top frame was nicely rebarreled during its period of use; the barrel is unmarked except for caliber designation on top at action which reads "50-450". The barrel retains 98% original blue finish. The action retains 95% of a pleasing lightly softened color casehardened finish which appears original. The plain walnut stocks feature a checkered steel shotgun buttplate and sling swivels, the rear is clearly factory installed, the front sling swivel doubles as the forend fastening screw. The stocks rate excellent with some added light finish and may or may not be original to this rifle. Rifle is equipped with a folding midrange vernier tang peep sight, simple open rear barrel sight and windgauge adjustable front sight with spirit level. The face of the muzzle is stamped with a number "54". The raised lip along the front of the action which secures the rear of the forend shows a 1/4" section at top left side which appears to have broken and been filed to a clean edge. This rifle originally shipped as a round No. 3, 30" barrel in 30 Government. Included with the rifle are several cut targets including one which is marked "WINCHESTER THK WALL / 50-110 EXP" and shows six hits, all but one are touching, and were shot two each by Tom Trevor, John Bennett and Bill Winfield in October of 1981. This should make a lovely big bore shooter or a nice big game rifle for the nostalgic hunter. (1915-21) [Ray Day Collection] (2500/3500)
