58 Caliber, 33" barrel with a good bore having light pitting at the muzzle. The barrel has a dark overall patina with the original bayonet lug having been ground flat and traces of bright metal on protected areas. The hammer and lockplate have a matching brown patina with an added "SPRINGFIELD" stamp applied diagonally to the front of the plate. The brass triggerguard has a dark brown patina. The stock has a dark, added oil finish over some light sanding and numerous small handling marks as well as some surface chips on the right side of the butt, and a series of repaired cracks on the left side of the stock opposite the lock.
