58 Caliber, 33" barrel with a good bore having light pitting at the muzzle. The barrel has a dark overall patina with the original bayonet lug having been ground flat and traces of bright metal on protected areas. The hammer and lockplate have a matching brown patina with an added "SPRINGFIELD" stamp applied diagonally to the front of the plate. The brass triggerguard has a dark brown patina. The stock has a dark, added oil finish over some light sanding and numerous small handling marks as well as some surface chips on the right side of the butt, and a series of repaired cracks on the left side of the stock opposite the lock. This is one of about 200 or so Type III rifles with long range ladder sights and rates about good condition overall. (1958-4) {ANTIQUE} (1000/1500) SOLD FOR $1150.00
