serial #3235, 69 Caliber, 34" barrel with a very good bore having some light frosting along the entire length. This rifle has the first type, large eagle on the 1863 dated, "U.S./WHITNEY-VILLE" lockplate. The metal is mottled gray overall with dark patches of freckling along the barrel and some moderate pitting around the bolster and on the face of the hammer. The stock has been sanded and has an added, dark military oil finish over minor handling marks and blemishes. There are some very minor chips along the ramrod channel as well as a single small chip on the left side of the barrel tang. Additionally, there is some moderate pitting on the buttplate.
