serial #659M, 50 Joslyn RF, 35 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is an 1864 dated rifle that has a dull gray overall patina with brown freckling along the barrel as well as some spots of surface rust on the hammer and pivoting breech piece. The stock has a dark military oil finish with many handling marks and blemishes, heaviest around the breech, and exhibits a small crack at the top of the lockplate as well as a large chip missing from the left side just beneath the cartouche. This is a good-very good example of America's first, armory produced, breech loading, cartridge weapon. (1958-148) {ANTIQUE} (1000/1500)
